Welcome to the official website for the United Nations Association of the National Capital Area ( UNA-NCA ). Established in 1952, we are one of the oldest and largest divisions of the United Nations Association of the USA ( UNA-USA ), and a member of the World Federation of United Nations Associations ( WFUNA ). With the help of over 3, 000 members, volunteers, and supporters in the greater Washington area, UNA-NCA works to build public knowledge, strengthen UN-US relations, and aid the UN in achieving its goals. Advocacy: We meet with members of Congress and their staff to push for the ratification of essential treaties and resolutions. Our advocacy efforts focus on increasing government support for peacekeeping and assistance related to the UN’s Millennium Development Goals. Education: Our Global Classrooms , Washington, DC program educates over 500 students at local middle and high schools about global issues and organizes the Annual Model UN Conference. On a university level, the Fellows program offers graduate students relevant internships, networking opportunities, academic credit, and educational seminars. Networking: Committee meetings, happy hour socials, mentoring, and local events are just a small sample of how UNA-NCA brings together Washington DC residents with shared interests and goals.
