Northwest Regional Council

The Area Agency on Aging, a vital division of the Northwest Regional Council (NWRC), has been proudly serving the residents of Island, San Juan, Skagit, and Whatcom counties in Washington since 1971. Our regional governmental agency operates under the guidance of a board of directors comprising two elected officials from each member county. Our overarching goal in delivering community-based care is to empower seniors and adults with disabilities to continue living in their homes and communities for as long as possible, thereby delaying or even eliminating the need for residential or institutional care, such as nursing homes. This approach aligns with the strong preference of consumers and caregivers of all ages for community-based care.
