Foundation For Hospice of Central Ohio
Hospice of Central Ohio provides physical, emotional and spiritual care to patients and families with life-limiting illnesses. Located in Newark, Ohio, it is a nonprofit community based organization offering professional palliative and end-of-life care to patients and families residing in Licking, Muskingum, Perry, Knox and Fairfield counties in Ohio. Founded in 1982 and funded exclusively by private donations, it is a Medicare and Medicaid certified center. It is a member of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization, Ohio Hospice and Palliative Care organization and the Hospice Alliance of Ohio. It has more than 150 volunteers and staff of over 100 paid professionals serving patients with terminal illnesses in their homes, nursing homes and assisted living centers. Its Selma Markowitz Care Center provides 24-hour care by trained hospice professional staff, and has more than seven private rooms that have whirlpool baths, kitchens, living rooms and children’s play area.
Hospice of the Western Reserve, Inc
Hospice of the Western Reserve, located in Cleveland, provides palliative care, caregiver support and bereavement services throughout Northern Ohio. The organization s home care services involve the hospice team working closely with the patient and family and provide pain management and symptom control. The team takes care of the medication and treatment to provide comfort care. The organization also offers 24-hour continuous care for patients to manage pain and acute medical symptoms. Additionally, it provides inpatient care where patients may be admitted to the Hospice of the Western Reserve or to a participating hospital inpatient hospice care unit. It also provides up to five days of respite care to caregivers respite from the many demands of providing daily care.
