Community Hospice
The Community Hospice is a nonprofit health care program licensed by the federal government and the New York State Health Department. It provides hospice and palliative care and bereavement counseling services. The organization is a network of more than five local hospice programs, including the Community Hospice of Albany County, Community Hospice of Schenectady and Community Hospice of Saratoga. It serves patients with heart diseases, cancers, Alzheimer s disease and Lou Gehrig’s disease, cirrhosis, leukemia, emphysema, kidney diseases and AIDS. It also offers various children s services, physical and respite care, consultation on pain management and symptom control services. The Community Hospice is a subsidiary of St. Peter’s Health Care Services and its staff includes various doctors, nurses, social workers, chaplains and volunteers.
