Abbott Terrace Health Center, located in Waterbury, Conn., is one of the more than 20 continuing care retirement communities operated by the Athena health Care Systems. It features a variety of services and facilities designed to meet the needs of senior citizens. Its goal is to enable seniors to maintain an active, independent lifestyle and also receive assistance with the activities of daily living. Its comprehensive medical care team includes physicians and registered nurses, geriatric psychiatrist and psychologists. Supportive services include rehabilitative services to assist patients with physical, cognitive, psychosocial and communication impairments, reminders to take medications, housekeeping and laundry, health and wellness programs and scheduled transportation. It provides skilled nursing services, intravenous therapies, pain, oncology and medically complex care and wound management. Abbott Terrace Adult Day Center offers individualized services for adults with physical, cognitive and emotional limitations, including therapeutic recreation programs, creative art therapy and cognitive activities, and health screening and monitoring.
