American Baptist Homes of the Midwest, also known as ABHM, is a nonprofit, faith-based organization that has been providing health care, affordable housing and supportive services to people for nearly 75 years. It works with a mission to create communities that foster independence, dignity and self-worth. The organization operates various retirement communities and care centers. American Baptist Homes of the Midwest offers a variety of group and independent living programs for adults with mental retardation and developmental disabilities. Its independent living program includes training and assistance through visiting counselors to enable consumers learn and maintain living skills, as well as promote personal growth. American Baptist Homes of the Midwest is located in Eden Prairie, Minn.
