Hospice of the Calumet Area

Founded in 1981, Hospice of the Calumet Area is a nonprofit organization that provides medical services to individuals and families. It employs doctors, nurses, social workers, counselors and trained volunteers. The organization conducts regular doctor inspections, offers emotional and spiritual counseling sessions, and coordinates supplies, medications and medical equipment. Hospice of the Calumet Area additionally offers respite care services. It operates a bereavement program that includes a grief support group, and offers written educational materials on grief and bereavement, monthly mailings, telephone support, referrals to community agencies and short term counseling classes. Hospice of the Calumet Area is based in Munster, Ind.
