The Highlands

The Highlands, established in 1950, offers skilled nursing and long-term health care services to the residents of Massachusetts. It is owned by the Life Care Centers of America, which operates more than 200 skilled nursing homes, assisted living facilities, retirement living communities, home care services complexes and treatment centers for Alzheimer's disease. The Highlands offers skilled nursing care, wound management and respite services. In addition, the center provides suction, intravenous, oxygen, and inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation therapies. It maintains separate Alzheimer's special care and subacute units, as well as organizes an adult day health program. The center features a library, barber and beauty salon, courtyard, and TV and telephone connections. The Highlands is located in Fitchburg, Mass.
